i think that easter might be becoming my favorite holiday.  don't get me wrong, i love christmas and celebrating that with the fam (i love the music and everything about christmas time) but easter is the whole core of what i believe.  i mean if you don't belive that Christ is who He says He is, then there's no point to celebrate easter.

today at church our pastor was talking about how because of Christ's victory over death we as christians have victory over death through Christ.  yes, i already knew this, but when you really stop and think about it, that's awesome.  ultimately sin has its power over us because everyone dies.  no exceptions.  but when Christ comes into the equation, yes my body will die, but when that happens i'll be able to live with Christ because of my relationship with Him.  God wins.  period.

also, my pastor talked about while we are living here we can experience the power of His resurrection in my everyday life if we choose to - which is the only way to fully experience life (to be filled by Christ).  anyway, i love easter and what it represents.  it's all about living life to the fullest and why Jesus died and rose so that we as humans can experience that.

    no me tocas

tulsa was a blast.  i miss those friends i saw, and i hadn't laughed that frequently and hard in a while.

so, today at work we were working on cabinets.  about a million cabinets in this large kitchen, and i'm sitting on the floor working on the island in the middle.  we're scraping away at them (aging them) when another worker at the house walks in and starts kind of talking to us.  well, he starts to tell me that i am going to have to move b/c they need to cut a hole in the granite counter top so they can put the sink in.  i say, "okay, sure i can move somewhere else for a while."  whatever, no big deal right.

then (keep in mind that i don't know this man AT ALL) he says something else (it's hard for me to understand him) and calls me beautiful - then he TOUCHES my head - as in he some what stroked my hair.   my immediate response was, "DON'T touch me!"  it just kind of came out.  then he walked off without much of a response.  my co-worker sarah heard me say it so i'm pretty sure the guy heard me too - he just didn't react.  sick.  i mean the staring gets old (other workers just stare b/c we're girls - very agrivating sometimes), but honestly i can't believe the audacity of that man.  let's just say that he better not even get near me from here on out.  bluh.

  • well, i've been back from aruba for a few days now.  it's been a little nuts since everything in austin is back in full swing and i'm going out of town again this weekend. (yea for deb's wedding).  i'll be going to tulsa to see the 2nd of my childhood friends get married.

on my way home from work today there were 3 little girls selling lemonade in princess costumes.  it was adorable - i definitely had to stop.

anyway, aruba was great fun.  my favorite thing was the jeep safari tour that we took one day.  basically i got to drive an open landrover offroad for about 2 hours along the coast of the island, over rocks and stuff, and down a large hill to a natural pool area where we got out to swim.  i halved the driving time with our friend amir that was on the trip with us.  i have to admit that i did feel kind of rugged driving that thing.  i'm quite grateful to my aunt and uncle for taking me with them on their spring break trip.

instead of writing about all of it, i'm just going to post some pictures.  enjoy....

post put-put.  i actually got 2 holes in one that night....probably never again.

madonna's (that's the horse's name) neck as we walked in the ocean

robert doesn't like smiling for the camera.  so we make faces.

okay, no this is not in aruba.  this is outside of where i live.  they're turning our complex into condos and they stick this guy on the side of the highway with a sign waving people in to buy them.  honestly, would you stop to buy a condo from this man?

  • today i went to my great-great aunt's funeral.  her name was doris shotwell howell, but everyone called her "da."  i remember going to visit her when she lived in waco when we were little.  she was one of the sweetest and well put together ladies i've ever known.  anyway, today's service is the only service i've been to that was done by only family members (great grand kids, nephews, and one great-nephew).  i enjoyed it.  it is a little weird to think that she's not going to be here anymore - especially since she was the last one of her generation in my family to die, but it's a good thing for her.  she was 93 and her body was just slowly running down.  it was good to see my extended family too.  we all ate together at the harrington house on baylor's campus after the service.

on a lighter note...i leave for aruba in less than 12 hours.  oh, how i need a break... :)  there have been too many nights this week of me staying up till 2:30 and getting up at 6:45.  i hope everyone has a great weekend and next week!
